Hard-Wearing Carpet Tiles for Offices and Busy Areas

Hard-Wearing Carpet Tiles for Offices and Busy Areas
Offices, shops, gyms, studios and corridors take a beating. If you need a hard-wearing carpet that stays looking good, commercial carpet tiles are one of the most practical choices, and they don't have to cost a fortune.
What makes a carpet hard-wearing?
A few things matter most:
- Fibre. Nylon is widely used in commercial carpet because it is durable and recovers well from foot traffic.
- Construction. Tight, low-pile commercial tiles hold up better in busy areas than soft, deep-pile carpet.
- Backing. Commercial tiles have a firm backing that keeps them flat and stable.
- Pattern and colour. Mid-tones, flecks and patterns hide everyday marks better than plain light colours.
Why tiles beat roll carpet in busy spaces
When a high-traffic route wears or a spill stains the floor, you swap out the affected tiles instead of replacing the whole carpet. You can also move tiles from quiet corners into busier areas to even out wear. Keep some spare tiles from the same lot.
Commercial quality without the commercial price
Most of our used stock is Interface, reclaimed from commercial buildings and graded so you know what you're getting. Our new nylon carpet tiles come from brands including Burmatex, Zetex, Shaw Contract and Christy Carpets. We've gathered matching clearance stock in colour lots of around 100 m² up to 1,000 m², so a whole project can be laid in one uniform colour.
- Used carpet tiles: €5–€8/m²
- New nylon carpet tiles: €11–€14/m²
Exact specs vary by lot, so ask and we'll tell you what's in stock.
Which grade for which space?
- A grade: offices, shops, gyms, studios and homes where appearance matters.
- B grade: worn but still useful. Good for film sets, events, temporary flooring and some offices. Not suited to home use.
- C grade: budget flooring for storage, garages and back-of-house areas.

Looking after hard-wearing carpet tiles
- Vacuum regularly, especially in entrances and walkways.
- Put entrance matting at the door to catch grit.
- Deal with spills quickly by blotting, not rubbing.
- Replace badly marked tiles rather than scrubbing them too hard.
